Black Cop Not Charged with Assault... Wait What?

On December 5, 2014, a black cop punch a woman in the face breaking her eye socket bone and causing dramatic swelling. The video shows the woman resisting arrest and kicking the cop. The cop responded with a powerful blow to the woman's face. The officer was not charged with any form of assault and went back to work in Seattle.
This story is ironic because lately, white cops have been accused of assault on black men and not been charged. In this case, the cop was black. Weird.

  1. This case is totally different from what has been happening in Ferguson and in the case of the black man who was strangled to death. You say so yourself that the woman was violently resisting arrest, so the cop was provoked and acting in self defense. In the case of the black man who was strangled, he was not violently resisting arrest, and the officer's actions were unprovoked and totally unjustified. Also, a broken bone is a petty thing compared to being killed. I don't think these cases are comparable at all.

  2. I'm gonna have to agree with London. They're not the same cases, but I do believe if this happened and the roles were reversed and it was a white cop punching a black woman then there would be a lot of hell raised especially during the sensitive times were living in right now.

  3. Yeah, I think that this story is irrelevant. Since the woman was "resisting arrest and kicking the cop," the officer's actions are completely called for. He was acting in self-defense instead of the other way around. Therefore, Mr. Eastmo, your argument is invalid.

  4. I also think that this story is not very relevant. It is clear that there is a broken justice system and this story seems like a copout for those opposed to recent actions and protests of civilians in other areas of the country.
